A life has its greatest meaning - perhaps it's only meaning -
in how it helps others' lives.
Paraphrase from Jackie Robinson
If my writing could help even one person laugh,
lighten up or
recognize something which is holding them back from doing good,
my efforts will have meaning.

Political and other poetry: I started writing when I retired from public school teaching. My political poetry is the basis for some of my musical compositions. My M.M from Juilliard, where I was a Teaching Fellow and my MBA from NYU’s Stern School of business are supplemented by work as a marketing professional and by studies in conducting, piano, voice and bassoon.
Beth & Ken at our Wedding in 1989.
A couple of decades later, with our son, Dan when he was studying in Italy.
Ken Lieberson started out like a ball of fire, Valedictorian of middle school, Valedictorian of high school, Young Artists Award at Tanglewood, B. M., M.M. from Juilliard, M.B.A. from Stern, NYU. Then a mediocre business career, a mixed reviews as public-school teacher. At some point he realized he is a pretty good day trader. He wrote journal entries for decades, a couple of short stories, wrote a couple of speeches. He couldn’t finish most of his stories until meeting a writing teacher at a party said, “You’d finish them, if you were my student.” Hard to believe that simple comment did the trick- alone. Maybe it was in conjunction with his change of therapist. He started doing visual art (and meditation) to relieve stress. Type One diabetes motivated him to exercise. Someday, maybe, he’ll get back to music. He lives with his wife of 30 years and their son in Greenwich Village.
