Blog No. 33: String Quartet No. 5

String Quartet No 5
Kenneth Ducore Lieberson

This quartet was inspired by one of the many pieces of wisdom I have learned from my sister, Dr. Amy Beth Lieberson.

Amy said, "You can grow in rocky soil."

In other words, life doesn't have be perfect or even very good for us to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps... It is similar to "God moves mountains... bring a shovel.

Perhaps someday this poem will become a song.
If that happens, I will be happily surprised,

Under My Feet...

...
Under my feet..

concrete.

A seed below

Complete
It will grow
It will show
verdant green to
Sky blue, sun...
This we know.

***

An idea
Far from complete
A fleeting feeling replete with
Seeds of all to follow in bliss
In sorrow for
today, tomorrow rich or poor
Be sure we will grow in
The form into which are molded
Folded within
Our unadulterated yang
Through sin, failure, humiliation
We yearn unawareness for
Just the right balance with yin.

In rocky soil.
