Blog Post No. 27: Symphony No. 60 Mov. III (Death Be Not Proud)
John Donne's 1609 sonnet's message is that we should not feat death for
we can live forever in god's eternal kingdom.
John Gunther's 1949 memoir's message is that we can live life to the
fullest until our very last breath.
Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie shows us the not only can we live
always life to the fullest but that we can also do so with endless curiosity.
Zen teaches us that for the duration of our earthly moment we not only
Do not have to fear death, but by the very fact: acceptance of its inevitability, we can
be set free. The knowledge of death awakens us to live every moment with curiousity,
intention and presence.
Judaism teaches us that though the problems of the world are too great
for any one person to solve alone, neither does that absolve any of us
from doing good for all humanity to the limits of our ability.
Tchaikovsky, Beethoven among others have reminded us of our common fate.
